I prefer wood, I just love the way it looks. Funny that every snubby I own has rubber grips. Just worked out that way I guess.
I bought my 85 with wood grips on it now and just purchased a Hogue set of rubbers. When trying the gun on for CC it seems that the wood grip prints quite a bit, but i also hear that people prefer them for CC saying that the rubber tends to catch their shirt. Just wondering what you guys prefer.

When Leonidas was preparing to make his stand, a Persian envoy arrived. The envoy explained to Leonidas the futility of trying to resist the advance of the huge Persian army and demanded that the Spartans lay down their arms. Leonidas told Xerxes "MOLON LABE", or "Come And Get Them."

Carry On !
When I bought mine many years ago the first thing I did was replace the wood grips with rubber. Can't remember the brand but they don't really catch clothes too much and I need them since that snappy recoil will spin the gun up in my hand with every shot when I use wood. My hands tend to perspire a lot.
Paramedics save lives. Guns save lives. But Paramedics with guns scare people.
Haven't tried the wood grips for my 85UL, but with the "snappiness" of a small, lightweight revolver, I think that the rubber would be better for recoil, control, etc. As always with guns though, your personal preference trumps and opinion.
I prefer wood too! I like the looks. My current snubby, a .357, has rubber grips, which are great at the range. When I carry though, the grips even grip some clothing to some extent. I've been watching for the right wood grips to come along, even though I know they won't be as comfortable for extended shooting sessions.

I just picked up a S&W 637 and immedately put wood on it. Smooth wood.
I can't stand rubber grips. They do grab the covering garment and tend to stick to my hand if I grab the gun wrong out of the holster and it's hard to alter my grip.
Besides rubber looks so cheap

I put a nice set of wood grips on both my M85 and M605 that I got last weekend at the gunshow. Haven't had achance to shoot with them yet, though. I don't think it will be much different as the M85 had rubber boot grips with exposed backstrap on it when I shot it last, and it was quite comfortable. Will wait to see if I put wood on my other M85 or mu S&W j-frames.
I had Hogue grips on my S&W snubby. I carried that everyday for a year and for whatever reason, I never took those grips off. I was cleaning it one day and decided to remove the grips and to my surprise and dismay it started to rust and pit the frame from perspiration, I guess. The wood grips went back on and the Hogue's are in a drawer. My fault sure, so if you do get the rubber grips, be sure to remove them regularly and check things out.

I'll be sure to do that, thanks for the advice. Even though they were a pain in the butt to get on. I do like them much better, i put them on today and shot it for the first time. Certainly wont be going back to the wood.Originally Posted by rcflyer

I like non-rubber grips, mostly because it makes for a better draw from the pocket (I pocket carry).
One downside is if you ever have to get on the ground laying on your side, your gun can slide right out of your pocket depending on the pants you're wearing.
Another downside is non-rubber grips are less range friendly for your hand with strong ammo.
I like the looks of some of the grips at this website. http://www.grips4guns.com/revolver/taurus/taurus.html
