Hot weather seems to make everything feel heavier. I can carry larger and heavier firearms longer and more comfortably in the cooler months. But overall, I prefer my PT145, and P3AT at times.
I carry a G21, Sig 220, and will be carrying my PT845, but only in the winter when it's cooler. For hot Florida weather, I carry an XDsc9, P-11 Keltec, and a P3AT.

'I believe that banking institutions are more dangerous to our liberties than standing armies. If the American people ever allow private banks to control the issue of their currency, first by inflation, then by deflation, the banks and corporations that will grow up around [the banks] will deprive the people of all property until their children wake-up homeless on the continent their fathers conquered. The issuing power should be taken from the banks and restored to the people, to whom it properly belongs.' Thomas Jefferson

PT1911 year round in an IWB holster and recently my new S&W 4046 in my homemade IWB holster. For some reaon the P3AT just doesn't get much carry time.
This is the land of opportunity not entitlement
I'm nearly as fast and accurate with my Kel Tec P11 than with my full sized guns. I proved this to myself by using it in IDPA competition a few times just to test. It has the power of +P 9x19, it has 10+1 firepower, it is 3.5" at 25 yards accurate from the bench. I carry it in a pocket, don't need no stinkin' belt gun.
I will carry a belt gun in cooler weather when I can wear something other than a T shirt for a cover garment. It's usually my 3" Taurus M66 .357 magnum revolver. I have a Ruger P90 I think I might get a Hume 721OT for it or similar high ride from Tucker Gun Leather. But, no rush right now. It's hotter'n 9 kinds of hell in Texas now and won't be belt carry weather for 4 more months.
Even when I do belt carry, I still pocket carry .38 or 9mm. When I get home, i'll take the big gun off. The little gun stays in a pocket, never bothers me, always there and ready.

Would a Taurus CIA 850 in .38 be considered large?
With the cylider it can sometimes be as cumbersome as a .40 or .45. I do think the 850 is large for a .38 though, I don't think an average one would be considered large at all.
Anyway, that's my carry piece. and I love it.

You are his life, his love, his leader. He will be yours, faithful and true, to the last beat of his heart.
You owe it to him to be worthy of such devotion."
"Ya know, if I was James Bond, I think I would carry a bigger gun."
Everything is a compromise. A bigger gun is easier to shoot accurately, and has more capacity. In cooler months, I carry a 5" .45. Heck, sometimes I carry it in the summer. It's not that hard, but you do have to dress for it.
But normally in the hotter months, I have a 4" .40 that I carry. It's easy enough to conceal under a shirt that's a size larger than normal. And open carry is legal here, so I don't get to worried about printing. (Although I conceal it well, even my wife doesn't know I carry 24/7)
And I've got the 709 for deep conceal, or when other issues with size or weight (like jogging) come into play. The 709 is a great little gun, but it's not as easy to shoot, and you give up a lot in capacity. I take capacity more and more seriously these days as we seem to be getting "robbing crews" of several people. My .40 and .45 both have 14 + 1.
And when the need arises, the 709 makes a great pocket gun as a backup to the .45.

Kel Tec PF9 iwb in summer but in cooler weather I like to carry my PT99 IWB

I simply carry a PT111 Pro year around regardless. I have others suitable for carry but are a bit heavy to carry all day long. Good holster and belt solves a lot of problems with carrying concealed comfortably. I use a Crossbreed and a Beltman 1.5" belt. I also ware 5.11 covert long sleeve shirts during my work hours regardless of the heat. These are as comfortable to wear as a T shirt in the same heat to me.

Owning a gun doesn’t make you any more an armed citizen than owning a guitar
makes you a musician.
In cooler months I can get away with a 1911 but normally it my 24/7 compact 45. Or my XD-9 with a IWB for both. I'm a good size guy so I can hide pretty much what I need.

Bigger is better
In all seriousness... I pack full size for the better accuracy potential (longer sight radius)...
The right holster will make packing more discrete and comefortable.
