NO It's not for me![]()
My wife has had her permit for probably 6 months or so. Hasn't carried yet.
I asked, and she told me to back off, she'll carry when SHE'S ready.
Personally, I do NOT believe in carrying a firearm in a purse. Not by any means.
The purse can be snatched too easily, and bingo, now another BG has a gun.
I bought my wife a nice holster from "Simply Rugged" which fits either her Model 85 or her Model 941. Stored a gun in it for a while to help break it in, but there it sits, in my "holster box".
Also bought her either a Galco or a Bianchi (I forgot) for her Bersa Thunder .380. Beautiful holster. It's also in the "holster box"
One thing I've learned through the years, is "Don't push". It's OK to "suggest" but you have to be careful with that too. So I wait until she decides, or asks me a question.
She asked a question todaySaid she remembers seeing a purse with a built-in holster, but forgot where. (So she HAS been looking)
I still don't like the idea of carrying in a purse. I know millions of women do it, but that doesn't make it right. A friend of mine in Miami lost TWO guns that way.
Anyway. If I can find what she's looking for, I'll probably buy it for her instantly.
I figure it this way.... Let her start to carry. Just to get used to the idea. Be aware that she has a firearm in her possession. Know how to safeguard it. Know what steps to take if a suspicious situation should arise. Etc.
Then maybe after a while, I might be able to "SUGGEST" that she try one of the holsters that I bought for her.
So, if anyone knows of any "purse holsters". Please advise. The gun would be the Taurus Model 85 2 inch bbl.
Thanks![]()

Hi, Rottie-
Man, you DO have a sticky situation, don't you? Well, I checked around, and these look pretty good. See what you think:

I don't recall who it is, (I think one of the major holster makers) but someone produces a purse with a metal 'skeleton' inside the strap, to prevent it being cut. Oh, and a velcro-opening end, for 'reach through the side' (or have hand on gun, while walking) weapon access. If memory serves, it was topgrain leather, and somewhere in the $150-200 range.
Good luck with that-

NRA/but not always happy with them.
The NRA store online has a couple different types also. Hope it helps.
Let me retract my question :P
Thanks guys, I checked them out as well as a bajillion other sites I found with a quick Google search
Yeah, Personally I like the ones that GALCO makes. I have a few GALCO holsters. (In my holster box), and I think they are great.
Of course I can't pick out the purse, but whatever she picks out, I'll buy for her immediately.
Nice to know that she will FINALLY be carrying
I'd still like to leave the topic of carrying in a purse open, and get some thoughts on it.
No more holster/purse sites will be necessary. Thanks.
My wife bought and uses a Smartcarry. Just a thought.

Ebay usually has a bunch of them.
Might be a cheap way to see if it gets "used", then upgrade?
