I am thinking of one of these -- maybe especially the PT 740. Some past posts have indicated problems with the gun not shooting point-of-aim. Some could not adjust this out, reaching the limit of their adjustable sight and still having a problem. Would folks share about whether yours shoots where you aim it, out of the box? Thanks. Joe
Mine shoots low left...I should say, that I am having a problem shooting low left. I've had two different range masters shoot my 709 and they were both dead on...So I have realized that it's me and not the gun. Now I have to work on my problem, not trying to adjust sites that don't need adjustment. It's a great gun that doesn't need work...I just have to step back and figure out what I'm doing wrong.
My 709 was perfect right out of the box, the 740 to the left a tad, adjusted it and it's fine now.
Mine shoots exactly where I point it!
My 709 tends to shoot a little left and low with 115gr FMJ ammo. A heavier round will move up for my. But since I have other handguns that I shoot very well (certainly not consistently left!) I assume that I have some work to do on my trigger pull. Personally, I think the safety mechanism on the trigger blade goofs with my technique. I will also say that I shoot it well enough to have made it my favorite carry gun.

My PT740 is pretty much like my PT1911...it hits where I aim it! (And was that way right out of the box.)

My 709 shot low & left out of the box. Adjusted for the left, low would not adjust enough to center
point of impact. This was shot off a rest. I read many cases of low/left with this gun.
Planning on ordering a lower front sight for mine. Be glad when the aftermarket catches up with
these guns. Would love to swap front & rear out on mine.
The gun itself shoots great. Really like it except for the sight issue.
My new-to-me 709 shot left when I got it. After adjustment, it centered but shot low; I then read the owners manual and found that the 2nd screw on the rear site was for elevation and not a double screw for windage adjustment. This is refered to as "operator error". I am not prone to reading instructions. It now shoots fine.

Just 2 notes!
low and left is a common trigger control problem with right handed shooters, apply where needed!
and Taurus makes 3 different height front sight blades for the 709/740, (i did know the heights but have forgotten) but basically they are stock, short, and shorter.
