    proper grip for the 738

Hey all, need some advise on where to grip with my off hand. I'm right handed with pretty large hands (fairly large, not necessasarly pretty ), my problem is that I can't get a good feel with my left hand. Cup and saucer doesn't work for me, more conventional grips don't work either. I've modified my grip to locking my left thumb as far down on my right wrist as possible to avoid slide bite but I don't think I want to trust myself with a new muscle memory on that because I have to think pretty hard to get that thumb down. with a more modern grip my left thumb wants to ride too close to the slide and interferes with the tip on my trigger finger. the next closest for me is actually having my left thumb beside my right but I'm giving up some control with that.............suggestions?

With such little real estate to work with I use what I have seen termed as a revolver grip. Your finger overlap like usual, and my left thumb goes back over my right thumb and squeeze on my right thumb. I would also suggest working on 1 hand since it will most likely be used 1 handed in a defensive situation. That way you aren't learning a new muscle memory as you called it.

Just wanta say I identify, and my hands aren't that big. Arthritic hands, so hard to squeeze the little grip enough to make it really stable. But I figure, it's like being fun to shoot- I mean, it's much more fun to shoot a full-sized gun, than little things like this. But the 'little thing' serves a different purpose. So whether not being fun to shoot, or having trouble getting a good grip- I gotta ignore that, and practice for its intended use. joel brings up a good question, I will keep watching this one for ideas.

My hands are about small/medium and the grip I find most comfortable with is to curl my right hand little finger under the magazine then with my left I cup it under the trigger guard with my left thumb touching the front of the trigger guard and parallel with my right thumb. The left thumb does not over ride the right but lays along side of it. It give a good push/pull grip and for me is steady and natural.

My grip is identical to that of oldbull360. On most semis, the larger ones, my left thumb overlays the right one, but with the TCP, his way is just more natural and steady. I do quite a bit of practicing shooting one-handed, since any encounter would probably be up-close, where just pointing and squeezing off rounds quickly would be the most likely tactic. This is not a long range gun.
