    should I buy the TCP

    Hey everyone,

Looking to pick up a CC, the TCP is on my short list...I know any small 380/9 or any gun can have problems..but their seems to be some additional issues with the Taurus.....I have held it and dry fired it and it feels the best to me...the only other pocket 380/9 that felt as good in hand and trigger was the Rohrbaugh....I know the $$$$$ difference(not a deal breaker though for me). I see there appears to be a lot of "enhancements" needed to the TCP in order for it work "all the time"...would like it to work right out of the box. gotta trust my life with it.

So how reliable is the TCP now? Glad I found this site...lots of nice people and info. Keep you informed on my choice. And thanks for your help.

Ive got an "A" model and have had no problems......got a great trigger and is fairly accurate........Extremely easy to carry in many different modes....I think if you get one and do the relaibility enhancements mentioned elsewhere on this forum, you will feel good about the purchase.......I love mine and carry it everyday!

For a 380 the I have a series , "C" model. It is a good little pistol for when smaller is simply needed. The felt recoil in a 10oz pistol is very compairable to a 13 to 15 oz 9mm too. How you planing on carry'n. Both the 380 and the pf-9 can be pocket carried. The 738FS can be bought for around 185 dollars but is carbon steel with an oxid finish and there are several versions of SS that would lend it self to daily cc better . Now for the same discount cost of the higher priced 738's cab be bought for around $260 here. I would have a very had time paying more for a 738 than what a SS 738 can be bought for. You can buy a KT pf-9 and have a full (mm for around $250 lgs price and have the same kind of trigger pull that about a 1lb heavier. My main cc is a 9mm.

Exactly the same here. I have an A model that is perfect. Easily hides in a pants pocket. Great trigger. Pretty accurate. And LIGHT. Eats anything I feed it.

I had a B model for about a year. I finally got 80 rounds through it. After 3 trips to the factory......I dumped it.

Many people have bought an A with no problems, as well as b, and now C. Some how some way though, a few out of spec guns seem to get out to the public. You may get a good one, you may not. Mine was a bad gun. Constant feed and eject problems, and the real biggy.....many fail to fires. Sometimes the hammer wold not hit the firing pin.
From my personal experience- I would say NO to that gun. But some people got a good one. If it works- you will love it, if it don't...then it will not be fun.
I have bought 3 Taurus pistols: a pt 111-Pro and a pt 845, both a good gun. The TCP- bad out of the box, and never made right.

Sadly, I'll have to concur with brojohn. As much as we do luv and enjoy our Tauri, I just couldn't get past the issues with the 738. That said, I still came very close to getting one, but found a deal on the Sig P238 and now a S&W Bodyguard 380. Depending on your experience and whether or not you'll use/carry others, you may be better served by the 709/740.

I was considering many .380 models but the TCP felt the best. I felt of them all at the local GS, but settled on the C-series Taurus. Glad I did. Awesome smoke-pole and stays open on m/t mag. $219 for S/S with Bulldog carrying case and 2 mags. Alexander's in Hiwassee/Blairsville, GA. Use Win. PDX1 Defenders. No plolem's. Shoots all day long. Would buy again, and again, and again!!!!!!!!! Semper-fi and This We'll Defend. Mike

I was scared when I decided to buy mine but I took the dive anyway and have loved it since. You know that small pistols can cause problems and most if not everyone here knows this also but I have known a few guys personally that were very offended thinking that they were the problem so many an issue isnt due to the gun.

I love mine, I carry it all the time and it shots great no real problem other then not locking back on the last shot. The TCP hides great on me, no one and I mean no one knows I am carrying not even my wife unless she feels it. It is comfortable to carry as well.
With that said I do find my self second guessing my purchase, I wish I went with at lest a 9mm due to a few reasons... Mostly the cost of practice ammo and stooping power. I live in a town with a high drug use of meth and I am really weary of the 380's stopping power. I am in the process of looking for a small 9 or 40. I can not wait till it really cools down and I can wast heavy cloths again... Then I can carry my g23 again.

Bottom line is I do like the TCP for the price, nice little back up pistol but there are a few 9mm out there just a tad bigger. If your going to shot a lot 380 ammo is expensive for what it is.
