No on either 709 or 740. I expect Taurus will send a replacement without sending the 709 back to them. Call customer service first thing Monday morning.
Last week at the range, my recoil spring broke. The lip that holds the outer spring in the middle of the rod broke, so the outer spring now goes the full length of the rod and not halfway. I noticed when half way through a magazine, the spring no longer had enough tension to hold the slide in battery.
Has anyone else had this experience with either of the slims??
Will Taurus' customer service send me another spring without me having to ship the entire gun???

I'm going to call first thing tomorrow. Was just wondering if anyone has had good experiences with Taurus Warranty/customer service. I've never had to deal with them.
I'm hoping this was just a fluke and that I'm not going to have to replace the recoil spring/rod every 1000 rounds; 1. Because I love shooting this thing. The trigger is so crisp and the gun is accurate, most would not consider it a range gun but I enjoy it at the range. It can make cloverleafs at 7 yards quick firing. 2. Because it's a great carry piece and I want full confidence in it, not wondering if my hot SD ammo would batter my spring in a defensive situation.
I've had two experiences with CS at Taurus. Both w/PT140, magazine issue (which wasn't problem) and they didn't blink an eye sending me two replacements (did want the old back) and then return of PT140 for warranty to fix mag dislocating during firing. There and back was about 10 days and repairs (broken/cracked release mechanism) and no further problems. So far I've found them helpful and courteous. I'm in midst of my 3rd encounter as my PT709 is on the way back to see if they can determine cause and fix the low/left problem (as I've determined it ain't me).

I called today, was on hold for 15 minutes. When they finally answered they scheduled to send out another recoil spring assembly, no questions asked. Not a bad experience. Hopefully it comes soon, they didn't have any in stock but said one would ship when it comes in.
