Taurus G2 Slim

Page 15 of my October Guns and Ammo magazine is a full page Taurus ad touting the all new Taurus G2 Slim, available in 9mm and .40 cal. Can anyone here enlighten me about this gun? It intrigues the heck out of me. Taurus' website has no info.

The G2 is just the second generation of the slim series pistols. I assume the second gens are the only ones available new from Taurus anymore. They are good little pistols.

Found this too...I'm pretty sure they do not come with the extended +2 mags though.

I don't think they've come out, yet... Especially any extended mags, either +1 or +2...

If they end up being the quality guns that my PT740 Slim is, they'll make for a lot of satisfied customers.

I have a 740 slim and absolutely love the gun. I have 3 .45's (Colt combat commander, Kahr P45 and a 24/7 G2). I sure hope they don't go to the same action design as the 24/7 G2, it SUCKS compared to the PT740 slim or the XD-M 3.8 compact I have in .40S&W.

You can bet on that! Once they end one model they move to the next and never look back even if they should.

Just an updated version of the 709/740, natural transition to what they feel makes the weapon better, notice I said "They" feel!
I wouldn't wait up on the extended magazines, and really if want more capacity then really you should be loking at something else anyway in my mind.
if yuo want a flat, short, light, weapon then why sacrifice size and more weight by adding to the design, theres a lot of very good stacked small 9 & 40 cal guns out there with even more than the 2 extra rounds with the G-2 extended mag.
and the extended magazines are likely scheduled to be out shortly after the extended magazines for the 738 and 709!-LOL

Pardon my ignorance, but how can I know if my 740 is gen1 or gen2? In tha Taurus "model number lookup system" says that it was manufactured in 2011. Does this in itself make it gen2 or not necessarily?

Generation 1, the G2's haven't released yet. 2011 was the year of the initial "Slim" series, the G2's are probably just hitting shelves in some markets as we speak.
