The G2 version has an extended mag that holds 9 rounds and the word G2 on the right side of the slide. That's all I know as there is not much info on the G2's even from Taurus Website.
I see there is a G2 version of the 709 slim. What is the difference? I just bought a 709 slim ss and wonder what I missed, if anything .

Thanks, I tried the Taurus web site too and didn't find anything that described the difference or let me pick it out. I bought some magazine extensions on eBay for my 709 slim that improve the grip. I wonder if the G2 magazines that hold 9 rounds would fit the 709 slim?

The 709's available... The G2 version is not, if ever... That's the difference. Simple as that.
From what I read, the 709 G2 mags will not fit the original 709. Any improvements the G2 has over the original? That I don't know and don't want to speculate. I also want a PT709 but I will wait. When Taurus first introduced the original 709, they also planned to make the 9rd mag for it but it seemed they cancelled it.

IMO, the differences b/w the 2 will be minimal.

Not really sure how they could improve it. Mine is a great shooter.

HMMM?
well In my opinion - A set of fixed sights (or at least a set of adjustable sights that are a lot more rugged, I actually see little to no reason for a set of flimsy adjustable sights on this gun), A changeable backstrap to adjust for different sized hands, and a pinky rest on the bottmm of the magazine, the extra round capacity matters none to me personally as again its a close and personal weapon and if the round count isn't high enough now then I got the wrong gun with me.
very reasonable, cheap changes that could be made by the manufacture.
