Thumbs up Taurus 24/7 OSS Desert Tan >>>>>>>

Like many others I am trying to find a 24/7 OSS in the desert tan. I found a shop that has an all black model. Does anyone know if the serial number is NOT on the grip frame and if I can just call Taurus CS and purchase a desert tan grip frame ?? If so then I will just buy the all black model and switch out the grip frame to desert tan. Thanks for any info. God Bless

PS: I know I can just paint it like some of you have already done, but I would rather switch out the grip frame if possible.

I believe that the grip frame is the actual serialized part of the gun. There are others on the gun but that is the one that counts?

You may want to consider having your OSS Dura Coated by TZ Armory, one of our fine sponsors. I'm getting my PT92 back from them this week.

I think that the actual metal frame inside the poly frame also has a serial number on it that matches the external poly frame??
    could be wrong?
but as Robby mentioned the serial numbered part of the gun is on the poly frame, so a new poly frame would/should have a new serial number i would think???--so would be a new gun, again i would think?

Actually, the Polymer Frame Overshell is NOT serialized. Only the internal Metal Sub-Frame is serialized on the First Generation 24/7's. That's the way it is on both of my 24/7's, one of them being a .45 24/7 OSS.
There have been rare instances of Taurus replacing the Polymer Frame onto the original internal Metal Sub-Frame with no FFL transfer issues.

There are also the Pistol's Serial Number Stamped onto the Slide and Barrel.

Yep, that's what they did when my 3rd Gen PT145 frame cracked....and no, Taurus will not sell just the polymer frame...it is one of their "restricted" items.....

They plastic grip frame is not serialized. I took mine apart to paint it tan. Wanted: 24/7-OSS-DS45 Desert Tan I called Taurus before I painted mine because I wanted to just buy the tan grip but, the guy I talked to said they did not have any in tan.

I sold my guns because the Government says they are dangerous.

Did they tell you that they would have sold one if they had it? The person I talked to flat out said the grip frame is a restricted part...not for sale. Maybe a case of the left hand not knowing what the right hand is doing? I would still like to get a frame if possible.....

    Thanks,
    Mike
