July 2008 issue of Gun Tests magazine tested .45 ACP, thumb safety equipped, versions of the OSS vs M&P vs XD. OSS finished a very distant last. Also, the images of the gun show a stainless barrel with the black grip. Are they shipping black OSS with a stainless barrel?
Any of you OSS owners read this review? what are your thoughts?
I've searched online for the article you reference, but I cannot find it. Can you please provide a link to it?
When Leonidas was preparing to make his stand, a Persian envoy arrived. The envoy explained to Leonidas the futility of trying to resist the advance of the huge Persian army and demanded that the Spartans lay down their arms. Leonidas told Xerxes "MOLON LABE", or "Come And Get Them."

I have subscribed to them several times over the years and have had a love/hate relationship. They will test a gun and slam it to heck and back then test it again vs something else two months later and it's the greatest ever.

Well, thats where I was going with my inquiry.....I saw a couple of other articles that compared the OSS to some other guns, and the OSS looked like it acquitted itself pretty well.....that can just be differences in opinion of the different gun writers, though - some of those guys won't give anything a thumbs up unless it says '1911' or 'Glock' on it......thats why I wouldn't get too worked up about a bad article.

Gun Tests has an odd philosophy for criteria. It varies with the gun tested. I've noticed that Mossberg also has a rough time in their tests, even when they had no problems with the gun, and it scored well against the others tested. Colt also has the same problems, as does Dan Wesson and High Standard. They purchase a random sample of the weapons, apparently without examining them first. While that's good, it doesn't represent a true percentage of the gun tested. I take their testing as a guideline to examining potential problems if I decide to purchase an example. So far, it's worked well.![]()
