    Wear patterns on titanium slide

Like an aged man I know there are wear patterns from heavy use.

Case in point: my 24/7 PRO C DS is 10 months old and with just over 1600 rounds through it, There are wear patterns on barrel, slide and frame. Surprisingly, the barrel has a small peened-over corner where the slide hits the top. The slide shows a similar peen in that same corner. I filed away some of both. I think these will diminish with time.

The slide-this is titanium now-has peened-over areas in three places: on the long ramp ahead of the firing pin, next to the firing pin in the cocked position and the stiff little ramp where the slide hammers the trigger bar (Dbeardslee has noted this). Only the last named place will affect performace when the burr begins to drag on the frame or beats down far enough to let the trigger bar slip off and jam the whole thing. The burr can be filed to clear the frame but when the ramp is too far gone the slide will have to be replaced and I expect that'll happen about 5000 rounds downrange. I have an equal number of rounds through my pt111 and the steel slide shows no such wear, suggesting that steel will far outlast titanium.

The frame has no visible wear but has two loose pins. The small roll pin next to the ejector climbs up until it drags on the slide. One of the big pins on the side is moving out just now. These are easily tamped down at cleanup.

These two guns are my carry and backup so I watch them closely. I expect both of them to outlast me by far. Taurus, you know.

I've heard predictions on wear patterns on the titanium slides. Just picked one up myself, so I'm going to be checking it for wear every 1000 rounds.
But, like you said, I expect both my taurus's to last quite a while. I've got 2k thru my pt609, and its a duty/carry weapon, so its the workhorse.
Not seeing anything but cosmetic wear on it so far.
Off duty and CCW: PT 609 PRO Approx 5200 rounds fired
On duty: PT 24/7 PRO DS Ti Approx 3000 rounds fired ... and finally working well
