Unhappy Generation 2 versus "older" mags are NOT interchangeable

I am a “newbie” to this web site, but not to Taurus firearms. I own many including an original 24/7 with the rubber grip and an OSS model, both in 40S&W. I recently purchased a 24/7 G2 Standard and was disappointed that the magazines are NOT interchangeable. Very disappointed is more accurate. I will take picture of all three pistols, as well as the mags and post them.

I knew before hand that the mags would not be a direct replacement because of the ambidextrous mag release on the G2, but I thought that was probably the only difference. The depth of insertion and the angle of engagement to the feed ramp have changed significantly (significant meaning minor adjustment will not make them compatible).

    Thanks for the replies.

olfarhors - I was sure that this had to have been discussed in this forum but I could never find it. I may not have purchased the G2 if I had known for sure. I really wanted the compatibility. My plan is to buy a CT when they become available and I wanted all around compatibility. Do you know of any difference between the flat bottom G2 mags and the "finger grip" G2 mags like I have?

Aviation_Tech - I am keeping the pistol, so the mags as well. In hindsight, I probably should have purchased just a mag. But, hey I have another Taurus 24/7!

Likely in the general discussions on the 24/7 forum. when the G-2 first came out there was quite a bit of dscussion on this issue.
actually i don't do the G-2 preferring the 24/7 Pro D/s and so can't really help you with the g-2 questions much, there are a bunch of folks that own them that can and will jump in however.

Very informative sir, glad to know someone got a chance to show it off in a side-by-side comparison. This will definitely help future mag hunters for G2's.
