OK, I dropped something inside my magazine and I need to disassemble it to get it out. The Taurus online site manual shows disassembly, but it's not the same magazine. There is even a YouTube video showing the 24/7 magazine disassebly, but it is yet a different base. This gun is only four months old, so there must be another model magazine out there. Not wishing to break the plastic base, I'll kindly ask if someone can help me out. (Left on my own, I'll just use excess power to muscle it open and break it).
well you don't give us a picture of your magazine?
so!!
my two 24/7C pro D/s have the same magazine and baseplate.
there should be a little plastic pin sticking out of about the center of the floorplate bottom, insert a small ball point pin, screwdriver about anything in it to compress it and the floor plate should slide off the front of the magazine bottom.
the 24/7 OSS has a different baseplate, the release mechanism is in the rear of the base plate, insert a small bladed screwdriver and gently lift it away from the floorplate(thsi will unlock it), the base plate should slide off the front of the magazine.
If its different than either of these two then you will neeed to put up a picture of it for me to help.
maybe someone else can help!
My 9mm has the pin in the center of the bottom. Sometimes, after you press the pin in and start to slide the baseplate off, the pin will catch on the rear part of the baseplate, so you have to back off a bit and press through the hole again until the pin clears the whole baseplate. Hope that helps.
I have the same style magazine and i'm afraid i'm going to break the tab off, lol. You're talking about holding the tab in the opposite direction of where it says "PT-24/7" right? I'm holding it all the way back and pushing down and wow that's sharp. What i wouldn't give for a video, feels like this piece is loctited on.
Maybe I just don't understand the way you are wording it, but if I move the tab back and push down, there still is a little ledge there that keeps it from going down or coming off. See attached photo.
You have to hold the tab past the ledge then slide the back part of the base away from magazine, the tab stays with the base. The tab is part of the main base plate. I will try and post a picture.
I had to do it again to remember and take some pics. The tab stays with the back piece. Hopefully these pics will help with my explanation.
Hold the tab back as you slide the back piece down and off. Hard to do at first. Hope this helps.
Thanks Mark. The photos helped. It is tricky. I don't think it's the best design for a magazine and needs improvement. Let's hope Taurus does a little more refinement on it. Again .... thank you.
I was afraid I was going to break it too! Just remember that the tab comes with the back piece when you slide it down. When I first did it I thought the tab stayed with the magazine so I was fighting with myself pushing the tab back towards the magazine while pulling on the back piece.
Ok - I have a question about the bottom plates of these magazines. I have two of the 15 round 24/7 magazines and they fit into my MilPro .40. I found out that you can order spacers to take up the gap between the ten round gun handle and the 15 round magazine. So I ordered them. The spacers (prolongations) do not match the plate on the bottom of the 15 round magazines and they look a little funny. My question is - will the base plate of the 10 round mag (it has the center hole type release) fit on the 15 round mag (which have the tab type release on the back end of the plate, same as the picture in the above post).
