I am looking for a replacement 9mm pistol for my Kahr CW9. It will be mostly used for home defence and sometimes carried IWB. My Kahr shoots great, but I keep bumping the magazine release while shooting, and releasing the magazine. Was thinking about a Glock 26 or Smith & Wesson M&P Compact 9, since I have rented and shot both of them well and liked them. I would rather have a handgun that I shoot well. Just saw the CDNN flyer. $299 for a 24/7 Pro Compact 9. Wow.
How does the 24/7 Pro Compact compare in size and weight to the Glock or Smith? I looked on the Taurus site, and found these numbers for the 24/7 Pro Compact in .40 S&W:
I can't help you with your question about how it compares to the Glock 26 or the S&W M&P compact, but I can tell you that the 24/7 PRO Compact DS .45 I had for a good while was one excellent carry handgun.
I just recently traded it to my buddy for his PT740 Slim because I wanted a carry pistol that was a little more lightweight than the 24/7 Compact.
The $299 price at CDNN is the absolute BEST PRICE I've seen on this particular pistol!
Thanks, MilProGuy! I'm leaning towards getting the 24/7 Pro Compact in 9mm. I'm looking at $338 OTD from my neighborhood FFL, compared to $519 that the Glock 26 will cost me from Davidson's. I have held and dry fired a Millenium Pro 9mm, and it was fine.
I had the same gun as MilProGuy and have the same good things to say. I have gone to a 9mm do to Arthritis in my hands and the little 45 was just a bit much. But was easy to conceal and before my hands went, it was dead on and no problems.
I carry the 24/7 Pro C in 9mm daily. My wife also carries the same for CC for obvious reasons. I have owned several other models, brands and calibers. I tried the 24/7 Pro C a couple of years ago and fell in love with it. It is the absolute perfect gun for me and for what I use it for. Right out of the box it was a tack driver. I paid alot more then what you can get it for. But I would do it again in a minute if I was assured I would get the same reliable weapons as I have today.
I have not had a single problem with either of them. I also have not been able to find where many people have. Look at the complaints section on this site or just general search throughout the internet. Very few if any problems with the 24/7 Pro C. Good luck and good shooting.
Thanks, 45 Forever and dingo3497! Both of your 24/7 Pro C are problem free. I go shooting every few weeks, and I don't keep weapons that are unreliable. My Kahr is not reliable in my hands, but I don't think it is the weapon, I think it does not fit my hands well. It is single stack, my hands just wrap around it, and it shifts during recoil, and my hand bumps the magazine release every ten rounds or so. I'm shooting with thumbs forward, so I know it's not my thumbs. My Ruger 22 and Kel-Tec P-32 are reliable for me, so I think after shooting hundreds of rounds and still having problems, the Kahr has to go and get replaced with something I can grip better.
I have the 24/7 Pro DS (not compact) and I have been very impressed with it. Now that I have gotten used to the sights, it has been a very accurate gun and it functions perfect everytime. I have never had any kind of problem with it.
