Sorry if this sounds crazy, but I was looking aroud the LGS yesterday at the PT111 and talking to the guy about one, then he handed me the 24/7 and I liked the feel of that rubber grip, the sights better, the decocker, and it's a couple bucks cheaper. He made some kind of a comment that they should have never stopped making that gun, and the one he had was pink (so no sale there).
I have been digging around this site for a while and noticed that on the PT111 forum alot of them seem to say that they want a 24/7 next, but I don't notice the opposit coming from the 24/7 guys wanting a PT111.. Is there any down side to the 24/7 over the PT111? other then slightly larger?
So I was leaning towards picking up a 24/7 if they are still in production, I was going to have the guy order me one (non-pink)...
I have a 24/7 C 9mm and it's a wonderful compact handgun. I do not have a PT111 to compare with. Now between the PT145 and the 24/7 C .45, I like the PT145 a bit better because its grip fits my hands better and it's slightly smaller & lighter than the 24/7 C.
They still make them. Gen 2 starting to become readily available. I argee with Taurus10, I dont have a PT111 but I do have a PT145 and like it a little better. But as far as accuracy, my 24/7 blows it outta the water over 10 yards.
They quit making the 24/7 with the rubber grip a year or two ago. They just quit making the 1st generation (which I what just about everyone has) jut recently and now Taurus is selling the 24/7 G2. You can still buy the 1st generation model though. A lot of stores still have some in stock. Plus, since a new model has come out, the price has been cut quite a bit on the 1st generation model.
YEP! they didn't discontinue it , they updated it!
you know kind of like Chevrolet did , they made the 1956 & 1957 Chevy and then they updated it to the 1958 design and almost went out of business!-LOL
seriously I am sure the G-2 will be a fine wepaon but i realy like my 24/7C Pro D/S a lot better I think.
as mentioned the RIBBER grip was discontinued about 2 years ago or so.

There must still be a lot of stock around... Gallery of guns has 99+ of the 24/7 C with ribber grips for around $330. CDNN has cases they said of the 24/7 with checkered grips for $299...both the Pro and compact.

well we can more than likely agree that the 348 and 409 was about the 2 coolest looking engines that chevy ever made!
not fun to replace valve cover gaskets on though!-LOL

That surprises me that they have them with the RIBBERS!!!
Not that they have 99 of them in stock with the regular grips though.
not sure what they mean by checkered grips, never seen a 24/7 with a checkered grip?-- the poly frame has indentations on it, I wouldn't call that checkering but maybe they do?

Like others have said, they didn't discontinue it, but rather updated it. They Did from my understanding discontinue the OSS though, but there should still be plenty in the pipeline.....
They might be starting to run out. I noticed on Buds the 24/7 DS 9mm that were $297 are now $387.
Didn't know they stopped making the OSS's though. Are they going to have a G2 OSS or do the G2's come with the OSS impovements, for example the match grade barrel?

Last I heard they were taking some of what they considered the best from the OSS and adding those features to the G2... now as far as what they decided to take.. I don't really know.

I haven't really kept up witht he G-2 pistol but if I remember correctly Taurus is bringing the LS (long Slide) version back, this will be very, very nearly identical to an OSS G-2 version, So i would imagine they figured they didn't need both.
The OSS was developed for military test trials anyway, as that boat has sailed no need to continue down that road?
as i own two 24/7C's and a 24/7 OSS i can say in my case while the compacts are nice weapons the OSS is simply a grade above them in most all applications except conceal and carry.
the OSS is one bad A-- weapon!
