Well I am getting my Utah Conceal Carry Permit and am now looking at holster options. I have pretty much narrowed it down to a IWB or a shoulder harness. I'm not that big a guy, 5'8" 160lb and want to make sure I get a holster that fits me good. I have a 24/7 Pro DS 4" and want something that will conceal it good on my frame. Any others out there about my size? What holsters work good for you? Any other holster options I should look into?
I would recommend a Shielded Holster. It is similar to the K holster, Kydex with a leather backing. I have tried them all, have a box full of holsters I don't wear, and I foumd the Shielded Holster to be the most comfortable IWB around. In fact, I have hated IWB until I discovered the Shielded Holster.
I believe CrossBreed has the best IWB holsters on the market. They are well designed, made out of durable materials, are tuckable, conceal well and are extremely comfortable. NTM, they give you a number of options for cant and carry position. For a large auto, like you have, I would suggest the SuperTuck.
Crossbreed and Kholster get my vote. I moved the clips around on my Kholster until I got the cant and level I wanted. I also cut a little out to get my middle finger closer to the trigger guard and get a better draw. Kholster says do it, it's still guaranteed. Then I trimmed all the extra leather away. Sometimes I think I took too much. When I get irritated enough I'll order another and get it right.
The good news is whatever you choose, if it's a higher end holster you have a trial period...just make sure you mark your calendar to get your money back if you don't like it!
I usually carry SOB and I can drive in my CrossBreed in total comfort. Deep chairs and couches that would normally grind a pistol into your back are actually comfortable when wearing the CrossBreed holster. That big piece of leather seems to spread out the impact of the pistol and it actually feels like a pad back there. But if you are driving long distance, I would move the CrossBreed to Cross Draw position so you can access it while in the car.
Well I just ordered a Kholster, got a confirmation e-mail saying it should be 2-weeks. I'll make sure to post a review once I get it in.
