i put about 5 mags worth through my new pistol saturday and i had quite a few failure to feeds the slide would get stuck back , im guessing that this is from new tight magazines? :???:anyone have this problem? i will say that the gun is very accurate i shot a 5 inch group with all 12 rounds from about 40 feet. and at 15 feet about a 3 inch group all 12
It could be the mags because they're a bit tight when new. I also had similar problem (FTF) with my 24/7 C .45 when I used the 10 round mag and it turned out the mag was bad. I sent the mag back to Taurus and they sent me the replacement that looked a little different than the original one but it worked flawlessly.
HMMM???
not had any problems out of really any of my 1911's, they all ran like a fine watch right out of the box except needing to tap the rear sight ever so slightly on a couple of them.
I would suggest first, did you clean the weapon real good?
after that try some gun grease on the rails and slide, and run the remainder of the gun a little wet for a few hundred rounds.
Finally if this doesn't improve soon then take a look at the feed ramp, normally Taurus 1911's have very well finished ramps but you might have gotten a slacker in this department.
Normally the weapon will smooth out and loosen up a bit after a couple hundred rounds .
The mags should be disassembled and cleaned and deburred /deflashed if anything is found, if you lubricate them use a dry lubricant. not an oil.
Remember that a semi auto is no better than the magazine in it.
well I just realized that you said a 24/7 -45!
My bad, but the same is true with this model as well for me, except no moving of the sights except on the OSS.
yes i completely cleaned and oiled the gun, i actually probably over did it.. i think its the mags i was also shooting reloads w/ copper bullets. it seemed to get better as i ran more bullets through it..
Yep a dead give away on over oiling is that the guys on each side of you at the range are wearing rain coats!
that or you need windshield wiper blades on your shooting glasses.
AHH yes reloads, they come in a lot of different strengths!
