Slide release issue

I have a Taurus 24/7 Pro DS C in 45 ACP. The problem is that the slide would does not release sling shot style. I have to use the slide release button each time to drop the slide. That does not seem right.

Also the magazines do not fall free. I have to pull them out after pushing the magazine release button.
Otherwise it works perfectly. It is super accurate, has low recoil and is just plain fun to shoot. I do love the gun.

First off, welcome to the forum.

Second, have you given the gun good, thorough cleaning recently? If it's a new purchase, make sure the packing grease is all cleaned up and the controls are lightly lubricated.

When shooting, does the slide ever lock back other than after the last round?

Thanks for the welcome. I have about 350 rounds thru this gun and have cleaned it several times. It does lock open on each empty magazine.It does not lock open when firing and still has rounds in the mag. It is as if the mag release button is missing a spring to push it down.

That is worth looking at. When the slide is off the frame, how does the slide lock behave, and does the spring keep it down?

There is no spring holding it down. WHen the slide is off the mag release button will just flop around up and down.

You're missing a spring then. There should definitely be a spring there. Did you get the gun new?

You should have a slide catch spring. Part 4.13 in the manual.

I have a 24/7 pro c ds .40 that is less than 3weeks old. It has the spring yet sometimes the slide is caught after a shot even with rounds in the mag. Pressing the slide release chambers the round, and it has not ever stove piped or failed to feed in any other manner with any fmj or jhp Ihave tried. It happened maybe 8 of the first 100 rounds and about 4 times in the next 300. I cleaned it before firing and after each of my 3 range trips. Man they grease these babies! If it doesn't clear up I'll have to ship it back. Anyway, you aren't alone

I think you are on the right track. The spring is there it just looks like it is out of place. Can you post pictures of what it should look like. I think I can fix it if I knew where exactly it belongs.
