Hi i am new and need HELLLLP

    Hi Guys.
I am a new 24/7 pro 9mm guy, and I LOVE it. I just got mine two days ago. I was searching the net and I find out this great forum.

And guess what? I have some questions and I know that you guys can help.
My question: can I use all type of 9MM AMMO? Such as

NATO ammo, +p+ or +p. ……. Dose it matter FMJ or not…..and I have seen FN ammo, are they any good?
And guys what is the deference’s between all of them, I have noticed the PSL but duhhhhhh does not make since to me at all?

    Thanks

You can use +P in your 24/7 according to Taurus. The +P+ exceeds the manufacturers recommendation and NATO ammo is more for use in 9mm machine guns and may over pressure your pistol as well. You can use any type of bullet , FMJ, JFP, JHP etc.

Re: Hi i am new and need HELLLLP

Im new as well... I actually went shooting for the first time yesterday...and it was the first time with my new 24/7 pro ds 9mm.

I bought Winchester 9mm ammo because I read on here to get Winchester white box...there must be a different kind because I just read on the box NATO. I went through 100 rounds yesterday and on my way home I picked up 100 more. If NATO is bad for my gun, I will get something different next time but will it hurt to go through the 100 rounds I just bought? Im not able to take them back. So essentially Im saying would 200 rounds of NATO ammo hurt my gun in any way? I want this gun to last.

The only thing I noticed when I cleaned my gun is that it was dirtier than I expected 100 rounds to look when I was done.

Can someone post a link or two of good range ammo for my 9mm. Not just saying it but a link so that I can actually see the ammo. Just a link from cheaperthandirt or something.

    Thanks!!!

Love the gun by the way. Im a rookie and know nothing and I was pegging that bullzeye

I have shot a good bit of the Nato stuff in my 24/7 9mm LS and 917CS.

    Runs both guns just fine.

I agree its a little dirtier but not too bad.

Re: Hi i am new and need HELLLLP

Thank you guys, for welcoming me

What I do not understand that:
    +p ammo PSL 34000 TO 38000
    +P+ starts from 38000 to 42000
    NATO = AVRG 36500 . 115 g – 124 g

So why guys NATO ammo which is the M882 not to good for the pistols and I mean here the 24/7?

** a friend of mine has a glock 17 and he uses NATO , +p+ and he told me that glock dose not have any issue with it at all.
The NATO ammo I am using made in the UAE. And I used it on my star BM.

Re: Hi i am new and need HELLLLP

I think guys it is about the PSL not about the bullet grin? Right?

My start BM model was made in Spain in 1987 and I am so in love with it, it is damn sure a strong pistl, and I hope my 24/7 pro 9 mm is the same.
** can some on give us a good info about the NATO AMMO? And what’s HOT about it?

Re: Hi i am new and need HELLLLP

From what I've read, this is not first hand experience, NATO ammo that is produced in countries other than the US may not conform to SAAMI specs and may vary both above and below the AVRG pressures stated above. I know a lot of guys that shoot it regularly because in bulk it's cheap. But, if you're looking for guarantee's, well there are none.

I guess my question would be with all the self defense ammo currently available and all the range grade ammo that's available what's the point of shooting +P, +P+, or NATO ammo? The standard offerings are more than sufficient for self defense and practice. The higher pressure ratings do not make them a "magic bullet" capable of a one shot kill, or offer any significant real world advantage. They just wear out your gun faster.

This is a great point. The theory of the candle burning brighter burns out faster
applies to firearms as well. If you shoot a lot of +p ammo in your gun it will wear
out faster. Even if it is rated for +p. Also it will wear out your wrists sooner .

    20rds of each load
    10' from muzzle

    WWB 115gr FMJ ave=1169
    UAE 124gr M882 ave=1175 ------------------- this is what i am tlking about>>>
    WW NATO 124 FMJ ave=1209
    Ammoman 124 Fed M882 ave=1268

    AND THIS

The pressure specs for the US M882 NATO ammo are within SAAMI +P and CIP max specs.

    M882 36,250 psi
    SAAMI std 35,000 psi
    SAAMI +P 38,500 psi
