Problem with PT 24/7 PRO Compact in .40sw Slide Lock Sticks OUTSIDE slide

Hey guys, new member here, although I am not the owner of the gun in question, it is my friends and he keeps it in my house since his girlfriend is a dirty treehugger. Anyways, he got the gun about two months ago from Bass Pro in Ft.Lauderdale. We took it to the range and put about 100 rounds through it. It feels pretty good, well balanced, light, and a great mag capacity. The trigger is something to be desired however, way too much travel and take up. I own a Springfield XD40 Tactical... but that's beside the point.

Anyways, this topic isn't about that. Last week we went shooting and noticed the slide would not lock back after the last round was fired. Then, I tried to lock it back by hand, and it wouldn't lock back. I looked at the slide and the slide release lever gets stuck outside the slide! This is the first I have ever seen on any pistol I have ever owned and/or fired. Is this a common problem, the slide release getting stuck outside the slide? To fix it I have to pull the slide back, and with my right thumb pop it back in. I have dis-assembled the gun and cleaned it as best I could, and it was still doing it. I tried with both magazines and it did it anyway. However, it does not do it without the magazine being in.

Any input would be great.

I just looked at the slide lock on my 24/7 .45, and the only way I can see that it could do what you're describing is if it were bent. Almost sounds as if that pistol is looking at a trip back to Miami. Just my .02, but I could be mistaken.
