Say hello to the latest innovation from Taurus. The 85 has been around for a long time and has proven it's abilities over and over. It makes a great pocket pistol or a small carry package inside the belt. Many folks that carry concealed prefer a "bobbed hammer" to a conventional hammer. But, the bobbed hammer makes target practice at the range all double action. The good folks at Taurus have come up with solution that some of you may find helpful in solving this dilemma. Taurus has introduced the 85C. This is a convertible hammer revolver in .38 Special. The hammer spur is removable. It has a cam lock fastener that allows the hammer spur to be removed for carry, and reinserted for the range! Otherwise the revolver is the same as ever: 5 Rounds, 21 oz., 1:16.5 Rate of Twist, 2" Barrel, 4.28" Height, and 1.346" width. Action is DA/SA, fixed sights, 6 grooves, includes the Taurus Security System/Transfer Bar, and has a MSRP or $386. It comes in Blue finish, 38 Special +P Rated, with rubber grips. It is available now through your favorite Taurus dealer!
I have not had the opportunity to test one of these, but I thought our members might like a good look at this new release from Taurus!

Major league baseball, like firearms, is a long standing tradition in the USA. Both in their own way are uniquely American. In baseball, major public interest is often generated by the acquisition of a new pitcher, usually a fast ball pitcher. 85 mph fast ball pitchers were replaced by the guy with a 90 mph fast ball, and the 90 mph pitcher replaced by the guy that could throw a baseball accurately at or over 100 mph. So it is with firearms and particularly pistols. We've gone from .22, to .32, to .38, to .357, to .40, to .44, to .45 and now even .50. The introduction of each, whether faster pitcher or more powerful pistol, is what sells. It gets the public’s attention, yet really ............ it’s just the same old thing reworked into a better faster presentation.
Every now and then though someone with a vision comes along and after fastball, fastball, fastball, they decide to throw a curve. Everyone blinks and says “what was that?” Well, in this case Taurus has tossed us a pistol called the Curve. When you see it try hard not to blink and say “What was that?”
The look and first impression of the Curve are so different that it may cause you to chuckle, yet take a moment to consider what you are looking at. Almost all changes to pistols since the advent of the semiautomatic pistol in the latter 1800’s have been either caliber or capacity changes. The geometry of the gun, that being straight sides perpendicular to the barrel, has varied little, if any. Here for the first time is a gun that changes that. The patent for this concept is owned in part by Mark Kresser, former CEO of Taurus holdings. This was his idea. Now, for those of you that know Mr. Kresser, you know he isn't prone to flights of fancy, but is a man willing to think outside the box to find ways to improve things. So before you dismiss this gun as an oddity, which I assure you it is not, look a little closer and see if you can see the real beauty of this concept.
